An Introduction
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."– Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
Sir. Terry Pratchett once wrote:
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
— Diggers, The Bromeliad Trilogy
I happen to be one of those unfortunate sods, tirelessly endeavoring to fill the myriad vacant corners of otherwise happy minds with mental choochkies, while silently raging against an implacable machine named, Bob.
I’m Anthony. You can call me Runesinger, if you like. I’m one of those people who would sooner talk about what’s on my mind, or what I’m working on, rather than about myself, so here’s the short, short version:
Male, Poly, Queer, OIF/OEF Veteran, Heathen. I love history, binging history podcasts, TTRPGs, writing, screenwriting, everything to do with film and filmography, world building, map making, and roughly half of my personal experiences defy belief, unless you’re a devout worshipper of one chaos god/goddess or another. Take that last part with a grain of salt if you wish — I won’t hold it against you.
At some point in 07, I enlisted in the Navy. Served until 2015. In 08, my insufferably unlucky posterior missed out on the cushy deployment to Guam, and found myself in Afghanistan1 — a beautiful, albeit frustratingly landlocked country. Saw some crazy things, did some crazy shit, and had my entire worldview turned upside-down.
After the Navy, I worked a lot of odd jobs; W2s, 10-99s, and freelance work as my needs and the economy demanded. Even did two sprints providing full-time hospice care for family. More recently, I worked in Insurance Sales (B2B, D2C), and the occasional handyman services.
Now? I’m trying to build a career involving TTRPGs, and writing the occasional incendiary schloop, while caring for two cats — both rescues I’ve raised since they were kittens.
And … that’s enough of that.
What is Sundry & Wayside?
lit. various and many (things) adjacent to the road … and I mean exactly that.
Sundry & Wayside is meant to serve as a repository for my writing, project updates, meandering and wayward thoughts, irreverent commentary, and anything else noteworthy enough to write down2. In short, it’s a glimpse into my insanity, my values, and those nagging late-night thoughts that demand immediate hyper-focused dives into one strange rabbit hole or another.
Off the beaten path, and holistically profane3.
You’re more than welcome to hang around, and enjoy the ride.
Note:
I understand if my style isn’t your cup of tea. That’s okay! You’re still awesome.

Especially the weird stuff.
